glassblowing & ceramics.
This sculptural-based installation investigates the five between modern-day industrialized society and the natural world. Through the act of recreating fungi with glass and porcelain, the contrast between what is natural and what is artificial is made evident. The move to a consumerist and materialist-driven society has negatively impacted what is found to be worthy of value or respect. This idea is manifested through the invasion of fungi throughout the space acting as both mycorrhizal partner and parasite. Because of the way that fungus is able to aid in decomposition, it also allows for new growth. In the way that the artificial fungus has been attached to the reproductions of human feet, the opportunity for the re-growth of the human psyche is born.
